Cafe Scientifiques

The Centre for Education and Research on Aging and Health (CERAH), the Alzheimer Society of Ontario (ASO) and the Alzheimer Knowledge Exchange (AKE) have partnered to hold 3 Cafe Scientifiques in Ontario, reaching out to those who are living with/affected by dementia.

The cafes were sponsored by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes.                                                  

These events included information on existing literature and research, overview of the development of the Self Management program as well as the lived experience of persons with dementia and their care partners.We wanted to know what self management means to those who are actually living with the disease and what they need. Alzheimer Society and other community organization staff were also able to share their experiences and challenges in their programs and services.Some key messages were recorded during the sessions and can be viewed:
